The Estonian Music Council is a non-profit organisation that brings together music institutions operating in Estonia.

As a representative body of musicians, the Estonian Music Council aims to promote cooperation among associations and organisations engaged in Estonian music culture and music education, to represent the shared interests of its members, to involve both the public and its members in the development of the music sector, and to participate in shaping music policy.

The Estonian Music Council values and promotes Estonian musical art in all its forms of expression.

Membership in the Estonian Music Council is open to all legal entities registered in the Republic of Estonia that have been operating for at least three years and whose main field of activity is related to music (such as teaching, organising concerts, and performing music), or that bring together musicians as members (such as professional associations).

The main objective is to promote the development of joint activities among associations and organisations involved in Estonian music culture and music education.

International Music Day

Music Day, held on October 1st, is a major event for the industry. The aim of International Music Day is to raise awareness and value music culture, recognize contributors, and improve the public’s access to professional music events. Music Day raises society’s awareness of music, promotes and values Estonian composition and interpretation, focuses on fostering new talent and audience development, and ensures the availability of high-quality music events. Classical Album of the Year

Since 2014, the Estonian Music Council, together with the Estonian Association of Phonogram Producers, has recognised outstanding classical music albums by presenting the “Classical Album of the Year” award at the Estonian Music Awards gala.
